The present education system is good theoretically, but practically, it is not possible to implement it, Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) chairman Ch Sarat Singh said on Friday.

"In order to make the education system practical, a collective effort is needed from teachers, students and the society," Sarat said, while addressing the Brilliance School Annual Day Celebration 2022 at Malom Tulihal, Imphal West as chief guest.

Sarat said some people are still confused regarding the new education policy-2020 (NEP-2020). People need not to be confused with the coming of NEP 2020 as the Central government is implementing the new education policy for the welfare of the students as well as for the society, he said.

Implementation of NEP 2020 will also bring promotion to the traditional culture of Manipur, he added.

Social scientist Dhanabir Laishram, as guest of honour, said students should be aware that while shaping their own career, they should know decision-making in life without depending on others.

Decision making in life is one of the biggest examinations for a person and each student should know how to make decisions after knowing their talents, he advised.

He said each student should have their own personal philosophy, including self-confidence. The main objective of education is to bring overall development despite achieving degrees and others, he added.

President of the All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU), Wangkhemcha Shamjai, as president of the function, said the role of media is to impart news between government and public.

There are many talented students in various fields, including education, sports and other cocurricular activities. In order to know their talents, there is a need to frequently organise talent hunts, he added.

He said there are three types of schooling in life which are home, school and social schooling.

Meanwhile, state journalism awardee Maibam Kenedy Singh, who is also an alumni of the school, was facilitated during the function.

Later, prizes of annual sports and literary held on Monday were also distributed by the dais members.
