NEP 2020 will bring developmental changes in education sector: MoS Subhas Sarkar

National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 is a multi-disciplinary venture which will give students various opportunities while pursuing their education. Besides the benefits, the policy will also provide access to the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), Union Minister of state, Education Subhas Sarkar said.

Union Minister of state, Education Subhas Sarkar who is in Imphal on a four-day visit, said the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 will bring lots of developmental changes in the education sector and it will give huge benefits to the students of Manipur.

He was speaking in a press conference at the hall of Thambal Shanglen located at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal on Saturday.

He said the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 is a multi-disciplinary venture which will give students various opportunities while pursuing their education. Besides the benefits, the policy will also provide access to the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), he added.

Responding to the media, Subhas said that he will hold discussions with the state’s concerned minister regarding the failure of students to secure a position among first 25 ranks in the recent Class XII examination conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COSHEM).

He said that during his visit, interactions will be held with the beneficiaries of the government schemes and policies.

He further extended condolences on the tragic landslide that occurred at Nungba district where many have died and injured. He appreciated chief minister N Biren Singh for his involvement in providing all possible care even by visiting the site and for helping the victims with monetary assistance.

Subhas further said that under the BJP government, various developmental projects had been initiated and many developmental schemes delivered to the people of Manipur within a short period of time.

With the Biren led 2.0 government, the drug menace, which is one of the most serious issues in Manipur, is being brought under control, he said. The government has also provided various benefits in the health sector, road connectivity and others, he added.

Under the BJP government, more than 22 lakh households had been given access to tap drinking water connections while many youths have been given benefits under start-up schemes, he added.

The Central government is also overwhelmed with the initiatives taken by the Biren led government for the welfare of the public, he added.
