A youth 20 (Y20) lecture under North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) initiative for G20 was held at NEHU in which member of the Economic Advisory Council of Prime Minister of India, Sanjeev Sanyal delivered lectures.
A release issued by NEHU stated that during the Y20 lecture organised by the office of International Affairs of NEHU at the Multi-Convention Hall of NEHU, the renowned technocrat, author and policy advisor Sanjeev Sanyal delivered an important policy-oriented lecture entitled ‘Next 25 years of reform’.
Sanyal spoke on the need for transparency, innovation, efficiency and quick solutions to pending issues of delivery from the system and advocated for a faster path of reform with due interventions from the government, it continued. The lecture which was presided by NEHU vice chancellor P S Shukla was participated by a large number of students, it mentioned.
“Sanyal argued that uncertainties and instabilities of a present-day economy necessitate a kind of solution that is arrived at by the market albeit with some directions and interventions from the government. Sanyal also mentioned that job creation is no longer in the hands of the government, but it depends on finding ways and means of setting up businesses in every sector of social life, to which youths are able to cope by adapting appropriate strategies of career and entrepreneurship,” it read.
It stated that NEHU vice chancellor P S Shukla in his speech highlighted the strength of India’s present leadership and argued that India will be able to go through all difficulties and can evolve a path of self-reliance and self-development. The event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by the officer in charge of International Affairs of NEHU Prasenjit Biswas, it added.
