North-Eastern Hill University is continuously working on implementation of various UGC guidelines for academic excellence to provide quality education to students, fostering not only their development for the purpose of nation- building, but also is committed to safeguard their interest.
NEHUSU and other bodies submitted a memorandum requesting the implementation of a grading system as per UGC Curriculum and NEHU Ordinance OC-20 for the PG batch 2022-2024. In response, the university administration has forwarded these grievances to the Examination Department for a comprehensive study that will address academic, legal, and statutory aspects to ensure the best interests of the student community are considered, stated a release.
After receiving the report from the Examination Department, the university administration, under the able leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, decided to refer the matter to the university authorities for implementation of the recommendation of the Examination department, it mentioned.
It is pertinent to mention here that as per the Act & Statutes of the University, any amendment to the existing Ordinance has to be approved through due process undertaken by various University authorities/ statutory bodies and requires the assent of visitor of the University, who is the President of India, it stated.
The university administration is committed to safeguard the interests of the student community by following due statutory process, though this may take some time. It further assured all stakeholders that the interest of all batches under NEP 2020, including the 2022-24 Post Graduate batch will be governed by the same Ordinance/ Regulations, it added.
