Expressing discontentment over the alleged failure of the authorities concerned to end the ongoing crisis in the state, the Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) on Friday demanded immediate action to end the conflict without further delay.
A release, signed by MUSU office bearers, pointed out the impact of the crisis on the student community.
The violence has threatened the education system, putting the academic career of the students at risk, it stated.
It expressed grief that many innocents have been killed. It is obvious that the violence is caused by vested interests and not a mere ‘ethnic conflict’, it alleged adding that Friday’s attack is a clear example of the same.
It condemned the alleged failure of the state and central government for remaining a mute spectator towards resolving the issue. The state and central forces have also failed to protect the people, it accused.
It reiterated its demand to the State Government to initiate immediate actions to end the conflict at the earliest, and warned that MUSU along with the student society will launch various intense agitations.
