Manipur University student, Gerinda Loitongbam, was conferred the National Women Excellence Award 2022 by the National Academy for Art Education, Pune during a function held in Mumbai on April 8.
The award was given considering her professional background and achievements in her career profile.
Hailing from Lalambung, Imphal West, 25-year-old Gerinda had completed a solo car ride expedition from Imphal to Delhi, to-and-fro, in 2019 to spread the message of “Stop Crime against Women.”
As a member of the Moto Tribe Club, she has been travelling to various outreached villages on motorbike to empower women and give awareness on crime against women and extend aid to the needy from time to time.
Moreover, Gerinda has been practicing martial arts under the Kanglei Martial Tricks and has been playing as protagonists in various short action movies of Manipur.
