As many as 30 youths (15 boys and 15 girls) from different institutes of Manipur along with two faculties of Manipur University (MU) who had visited Punjab under exposure visit of youth exchange programme from March 6 to 12 were felicitated on Sunday by the MU Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) Cell.
During the felicitation function held at the Court Hall of MU in Imphal, the participant youths and the two faculties shared their experiences on the six-day journey, which even includes the celebration of Yaoshang festival at Punjab.
They lauded the hospitality received from the people of Punjab and also highlighted the vibrant culture and tradition of Punjab which they were able to witness live.
“After witnessing the ‘Beating the Retreat’ ceremony at Wagah border, our hearts were suddenly struck with a great sense of nationalism and oneness,” said a girl participant while sharing her experience.
The six-day exchange programme has indeed fulfilled all the five multi-dimensional exposure of tourism, traditions, development, technology and people-to-people connect, she added.
Speaking on the occasion, convenor of MU EBSB Cell, professor Ch Ibohal, said that the objective of the exchange programme is to strengthen people to people connect and build empathy between the youth of Northeastern states and the rest of India.
Announcing that Manipur will also host a youth team from Punjab from March 24 to 29, he said that each of the visiting teams will be given the mammoth task of accommodating a local host family (students of MU).
Such visits to the state will also create an everlasting impact on the minds of those youth from Punjab towards the rich heritage, customs, and traditions of Manipur.
The felicitation programme was also attended by vice-chancellor of MU, professor N Lokendra, and registrar of MU professor, WC Singh, as presidium members.
