Toppers of HSLC examination 2022 from Kangpokpi block were felicitated on Sunday in an effort to motivate them.
Lilakrishna Basnet Chettri, son of Hari Basnet Chettri and Menuka Basnet of Toribari village from Elite Higher Secondary School, Kangpokpi secured the highest among the students at HSLC Kangpokpi Private Centre (Parazeau Maranatha Academy) with 86 per cent and Chongjahat Kipgen, daughter of Paothang Kipgen and Nemneilam Kipgen from Chandmari village of Diamond English High School secured the highest position among the students of HSLC Kangpokpi Private Centre (St. Francis De Sales) with 85.50 per cent.
The toppers of the two exam centres were awarded a Certificate of Excellence along with a cash award of Rs 10,000 each. This year's topper Lilakrishna Basnet Chettri is also the highest scorer till date with 86 per cent.
Government school toppers, Ngaiberbam Dhanajit Singh, son of Ng Guni of Sopleng High School (79.8 per cent), Sapana Diyali, daughter of Shyamlal Diyali of Motbung High School (74.6 per cent), and Menuka Mahat, daughter of Deo Bahadur Mahat of Gorkha Tapon (74.3 per cent) were felicitated during the event while the ZEO Kangpokpi had also given prizes to the government school toppers.
The felicitation programme, initiated by late Pagin Kipgen, late Helen Chongloi, and Jampu Kipgen in 2012 to motivate the students of the Kangpokpi block in their studies to face one of the state's toughest academic competitions, was held in Kangpokpi town.
The felicitation cum award distribution was attended by chief executive officer, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi James Doujapao Haokip and zonal education officer Kangpokpi Lhingneikim Kipgen apart from the HSLC Kangpokpi Centre Committee members.
Member of HSLC Kangpokpi Centre Committee Dennis Misao, who is also the principal of Light House School, the best performing school in the recently declared HSLC Examination, 2022 from Kangpokpi with cent per cent pass percentage, delivered the keynote address while James Doujapao Haokip and Lhingneikim Kipgen Kangpokpi also spoke on the occasion.
The felicitation ceremony was also attended by leaders of various local bodies, principals of various educational institutions, and officials and staff of ZEO Kangpokpi and HSLC Kangpokpi Centre Committee.
