Manipur Class 10 Board Exam 2022 Results | Girls outshine boys; no government school students among 25 toppers

Girl students outshone boys yet again in the Manipur Class-10 board examination 2022 (HSLC) conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BoSEM), which results were declared on Friday. And, all 25 toppers mentioned in the official list are students from private and aided schools.

“No students from government schools are among the toppers,” Education Minister Th Basanta said while addressing the media on the sidelines of the announcement of the results.

The first position was secured by Rahul Laishram of Catholic School, Canchipur with 586 marks. Nongmaithem Dhanajeet and Tanishq Tongbram of Heritage Convent, Uripok shared second position with 585 marks each. Menaka Huidrom of Eureka Academy at Thounaojam and Jesia Khwairakpam of Ratankumar Memorial School at Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi shared the third position with 584 marks.

The minister said that maximum teachers will be recruited in the effort to address the issue. This time, recruitment of teachers will be different from previous years as teachers will be recruited from respective localities of the district, he said.

A ‘command and control centre of education’ will be established at SSA office located at Babupura in Imphal to monitor the shortage of staff in schools, he added.

This year, again, girls achieved the highest passing percentage. While the total pass percentage was 76 per cent, the pass percentage of boys was 76.11 per cent and that of girls was 76.46 per cent.

“The fact that girls continue to perform better than boys signals the state’s progress… Educated women mean educated society,” the education minister said.

Compared to last 10 years, this year passing percentage of 76 per cent is high. Before, the pass percentage was below 74 per cent, he added.

From government schools, 8,306 students appeared in the exam and 5,022 (60.46 per cent) students passed; from aided school’s 1,611 students appeared and 1,136 students (70.52 percent) passed. For private schools, 29,316 students appeared in the exam and 23,656 students (80.69 percent) passed.

According to the official data, Thoubal and Kakching districts have the highest percentage of passed-out students with 93.24 per cent following Chandel and Tengnoupal district with 87.07 per cent, Bishnupur district with 81.72 per cent, Ukhrul and Kamjong district with 74.82 per cent, Imphal East and Jiribam district with 72.83 per cent, Imphal West district with 72.01 per cent, Senapati and Kangpokpi district with 69.66 per cent, Tamenglong and Noney district with 69.52 per cent, Churachandpur and Pherzwal district with 56.31 per cent.

The result of one student was kept withheld. BoSEM officials said the head of the school concerned to contact the controller of examination on or before July 15.

This year, in the first division, total 20,939 students cleared the exam; in the second division 9,153 students and in the third division 268 students cleared the exams.

The number of passing students from government schools was 5,022: 2,828 students in first division; 2,074 students in second division and 120 students in third division.

The number of passing students of aided schools was 1,136: 730 in first division, 400 students in second division and six students in third division.

For private schools, 23,656 total students passed the examination: 16,835 students passed in first division, 6,679 students passed in second division and 142 students in third division.
