The Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has demanded the authority concerned to increase the admission intake of Class XI and bachelor’s degree courses in the state.

The KSA stated in a release that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has affected the state in various sectors, including education. Students are deprived of regular classes for more than a year. State board as well as the Central Board of Secondary Education had even cancelled the examinations for classes X and XII. However, their results were declared based on assessments so as to not affect their academic careers, it added.

It stated that comparing previous years; the pass percentage is high for both the classes. On the other hand, parents are reluctant to send their children for higher studies outside the state due to the pandemic. As such, chances are very high that students may face huge challenges in taking admission in the state colleges and higher secondary schools due to unavailability of seats.

Considering the prevailing scenario, the state government should take up steps to ensure that every student who passed the examinations does not face any problem in the time of admission for higher studies, it added.

The KSA also stated that to prevent the students from any kind of doubt and have more knowledge about the scope of subjects to be chosen before taking admission, there should be career counseling units in different colleges.
