Abusidik Junior High School (Aided) at Heingang assembly constituency, Imphal West district was allegedly found to be non-functioning during an inspection drive conducted by Federal Students’ Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK) on Tuesday.
FESOK general secretary Shibadatta Sarangthem stated that the organisation conducted the second phase of its inspection drive at different government schools in the state. During the survey, the inspection team found Abusidik Junior High School (Aided) at Heingang assembly constituency, Imphal West to be closed, it added.
It mentioned that the approved teachers of the school, including the headmaster, did not keep any attendance register for the students, and continued that these teachers had not been going to the school for a long period of time. It urged the zonal education officer zone II to discontinue providing salary for the teachers, it stated.
Such non-functioning schools interfere with the ‘School fagathansi’ mission from succeeding, it added.
Meanwhile, when the team surveyed Khurai Heigrumakhong Junior High School, the teachers of the school were continuing regular classes for the students despite the lack of many facilities, it further stated. It continued that the school does not have enough classrooms to accommodate its 120 students, and added that the school does not have a toilet.
FESOK on May 30 launched the drive to monitor the irregularities of teachers in government educational institutes recently by setting up a survey team.
