The ILDS Dream Catcher Scholarship is all set to provide new hopes to the economically disadvantaged medical and engineering students of the state.

Addressing media persons in this regard at the ILDS conference hall in Kwakeithel, on Saturday, ILDS medical superintendent Dr Sashikumar Mangang announced that the ILDS Dream Catcher Scholarship has been established to address the economic challenges faced by students from disadvantaged backgrounds pursuing medical and engineering courses.

This initiative aims to support students in overcoming financial obstacles starting this year and to produce medical and engineering professionals, he said.

He further stated that the scholarship will be awarded to one student each in medical and engineering courses.

Eligible candidates must be government nominees who have passed the NEET UG or JEE exams and are admitted to a state government institute. Priority will be given to students from low-income families who cleared the exams on their first attempt; those who passed on the second attempt will be considered if no first-attempt candidates are available, he said

The scholarship funds will be deposited into the institute’s bank account and cover admission, examination, library, caution, and book grant fees. If a student is unable to take exams due to health issues during the scholarship period, the scholarship duration will be extended accordingly, he mentioned.

Explaining the reason for offering the scholarship to those students who are government nominees, Sashikumar Mangang said that government scholarships often face delays or may not be disbursed even after students complete their courses. To address these issues and alleviate financial problems for students, ILDS has introduced this scholarship to ensure timely support and safeguard students’ careers, he said.

ILDS managing director N Surajkuamr added that the scholarship aims to encourage students from economically disadvantaged families to pursue careers in medical and engineering fields. He also noted that candidates will be selected by a committee of experts from various fields after thorough evaluation.
