IEU confers Manipuri activist with honorary degree

Manipuri social activist Takhelmayum Rajen Ayangba alias TM Rajen Ayangba was conferred with ‘Honorary Doctorate Degree (Honorary Causa)’ 2022 on Sunday.

Indian Empire University (IEU), a unit of Peace World, Government of India awarded Manipuri social activist Takhelmayum Rajen Ayangba alias TM Rajen Ayangba with ‘Honorary Doctorate Degree (Honorary Causa)’ 2022 on Sunday.

The degree distribution ceremony was organised by the Universal Development Council of Indian Empire University in association with Peace of World as part of the ‘Establishing International World Peace’ seminar along with the convocation ceremony of IEU at the Hotel Claresta in Tamil Nadu. During the ceremony, IEU presented the honorary degree to many prominent figures of India.

TM Rajen Ayangba from Khurai Chingangbam Leikai has been working for the development of the society and played important roles in more than 100 different organisations of the country. He is currently the president of All India Dalit Development Association and All Manipur Dalit Development Association as well. He had also published many Manipuri literary works, including the Manipuri folk epic ‘Shathok Lamlen (Ahanba Saruk)’ in 1972.

TM Rajen had also written many plays including ‘Angaoba Kanano’, ‘Revolution Kanano’, ‘Ashibada Wahang Hanganu’, ‘Angangba Firal’, ‘Keisum Sangda’, ‘Manipur Khangminnasi’ etc.

He had also received many awards, including Dr Ambedkar Asian Award 2014 (Manipur), Babu Jagjivan Ram National Award 2015 (Delhi), International Peace Award 2016 (Delhi), Pride of Sri Lanka International Award 2015 (Colombo), Global Citizen Pioneer Award 2018 (Kathmandu) and Lifetime Achievement International Award 2018 (Bangkok).

Meanwhile, All Dalit Development Association extended congratulations to TM Rajen Ayangba for receiving the honorary doctorate award.
