The state’s first Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Science Centre and the third in Northeast India with two others in Assam and Tripura was inaugurated at the Khangaok Higher Secondary School in Thoubal district on Friday.
The inauguration was attended by the presence of the chairman of National Council of Teachers Scientist India and the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam National Council of Young Scientist Chandramouli Joshi as the chief guest and the principal of Khangabok Higher Secondary School national awardee Thoudam Radhamani Devi as the president along with Thoubal district SO Jogeshchandra Haobijam, North East Zone National Council of Teachers Scientist India director Khundrakpam Akoisana Singh and MES, ZEO, zone III Thoubal A Anilkumar as the presidium members.
At the event, Chandramoli Joshi stressed the need of promoting science education to children who have a genuine interest in the subject. He also declared the Khangabok Higher Secondary School as the head office of the North East Zone.
Khundrakpam Akoisana said that the education of intermediate-level students should be focused primarily on scientific studies to produce more scientists in the state. He also extended acknowledgement to Chandramouli Joshi for authorising the inauguration of the science centre at the Khangbabok Higher Secondary School for the first time in the state.
