The golden jubilee celebration of Don Bosco Higher School Tamenglong was celebrated on Wednesday in the presence of Tamenglong assembly constituency MLA Janghemlung Panmei.
Don Bosco School is an institution where many people, leaders are being shaped to serve the nation, said Janghemlung Panmei who attended as chief guest during the occasion. He said many young talented students are studying in Don Bosco School.
The golden jubilee celebration was celebrated with great joy and entertainment under the theme, ‘Honouring our past - creating our future’. Many talented students performed different activities at Don Bosco school complex, Tamenglong.
Further, Janghemlung Panmei made a fervent appeal to the Salesian Don Bosco family to continue its service to the people of Tamenglong and set up more good schools in Tamenglong.
Panmei appealed to all to live as good human beings while celebrating the golden jubilee. Good human beings are aware of their responsibilities and live a holistic way of life, he said. The world is marching forward and now is the time to check whether one doing is right or going in the wrong direction, he added.
Former MDC Charles Liangdiyang attended as co- host while Northeastern Frontier Railway Maligaon chief personnel officer Timothy Tajonang Gonmei attended as special invitee. They also spoke as alumni and urged all to continue to work harder to get the best in life.
Panmei also unveiled the jubilee monolith in the presence of dignitaries and invitees while Dimapur province provincial reverend Fr Jose Kuruvachira Sdb gave the blessing. Mementos were presented to all the donors, former teachers, etc.
A memorandum was submitted to the MLA, seeking financial help to construct an auditorium. He assured to construct the auditorium at the earliest time as possible.
Thousands of people, including the former principal of Don Bosco school, alumni of Don Bosco school Tamenglong, students’ parents and well-wishers attended the celebration.
Mary Help of Christian Tamenglong Parish also began its golden jubilee celebrations.
