COHSEM to conduct class XII exams on July 6, 7; results to be declared by July 15

Altogether 3,618 candidates will appear exam in 51 examination centres on July 6 while 547 candidates will appear exam in 24 centres on July 7.

The Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) Saturday announced to conduct the class 12 examinations, for subjects which were suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic, on July 6, 7 and declare the results of the same by July 15.

COHSEM chairman L Mahendra said that the decision to resume the suspended exam was taken in view of the upcoming NEET and JEE examinations due to be held in September.

Mahendra said that exams for the subjects scheduled on March 20 and 23 had remained postponed till date. However, in view of the upcoming NEET and JEE examinations COHSEM has decided to resume the exams, he said.

The Union HRD Ministry already announced that JEE, 2020 will be held from September 1 to 6 while JEE Advanced will be held on September 27. Besides, NEET 2020 is also scheduled to be held on September 13.

It is crucial that the council declare the results on time so that the students can prepare for the said exams without any disturbance. As such, the exam for the pending subjects will be held, said Mahendra.

The COHSEM chairman also said that evaluation of papers will begin from the next day after completion of the exams.

Altogether 3,618 candidates will appear exam in 51 examination centres on July 6 while 547 candidates will appear exam in 24 centres on July 7.

As 19 centres out of the said 75 centres are utilised as quarantine centres, preparations have been made for the candidates to sit examinations in nearby schools.

The COHSEM chairman informed that special arrangement will be made for students who hail from outside the states.

“It is a major task ahead of us to ease the unrest among the students and parents by completing the pending papers and declaring the exam results. But, all the necessary preparation in place, he said.

Spelling out the safety protocols to be taken, the COHSEM chairman said that everyone, including students should wear face masks mandatorily.

If any candidate does not have the means to travel to his/her examination centre, the candidate will be allowed to sit examination in the nearest school from his/her residence on proving his/her candidature/ admit card. The schools will be instructed to contact Council immediately for such special arrangement.

Cooperation from CVOs and stakeholders is also sought to enable the students to appear the exam without any worry. 

Physical distance should be maintained between candidates/ candidates should not sit close to one another 

Everyone entering the exam centres should be made to wash their hands thoroughly/ clean them with hand sanitisers. Candidates should bring their own hand sanitisers in case there is no facility for washing hands.

The students should not shake hands with their friends when they meet after a long time. They should not eat together, lend their properties to others and not gather in groups

Parents/guardians of students should honestly declare whether their ward is COVID-19 positive or not. Students should not be made to appear exam if they are COVID-19 positive. Council will take up every possible steps for them.

The class 12 exams conducted by the COHSEM commenced on February 14 and was to be concluded on March 23.
