A group of candidates who had appeared in the recruitment for 190 posts of Assistant Professors on contractual basis for the government colleges under the department of Higher and Technical Education urged the government to declare their results as soon as possible.
A release issued by the group of candidates stated that during the ongoing Manipur Legislative Assembly session, Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar had assured that the pending result of various posts, including the recruitment of assistant professors of Dhanamanjuri University, will be declared.
“Unfortunately, the Education minister did not give any information concerning the recruitment of 190 posts of assistant professors in the state government colleges,” lamented the candidates.
The examination process for the recruitment of 190 posts of assistant professors in the state government colleges was completed on September 21, 2021, it stated.
It further stated that the applicants have been waiting for the recruitment results for almost a year and half, and the delay has affected them from advancing their careers.
It mentioned that a list of shortlisted candidates was uploaded on the official website of the Directorate of the University and Higher education on August 23, 2021, after the screening of academic credentials and suitability of the applied candidates strictly in compliance with UGC norms and criteria. Accordingly, the interview for the posts began on September 3 and was completed on September 21, 2021, it added.
The department concerned had issued a release on June 23, 2022, informing that the recruitment process is near completion and has been referred to the personnel department to declare the results. At the same time, there are reports of an acute shortage of teaching faculty in the higher education sector, the statement said.
National Education Policy, 2020 also made it clear that adequate teaching faculty will improve the gross enrolment ratio in the higher education sector, thereby leading to overall socio-economic growth.
Meanwhile, recruitment results of 1,500 graduate teachers were declared by the department of Education (S) recently. Although the recruitment process of the assistant professors took place simultaneously with that of the graduate teachers, the results are being kept pending unfortunately, it mentioned.
The candidates drew the attention of the minister and the department concerned to declare the recruitment examination results as soon as possible, it added.
