The Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand is set to launch a sit-in appeal from July 25 to July 27, 2024 to make educational institutions a disturbance-free zone, across educational institutions in Manipur.
This initiative, spearheaded by committee convenor M Somorjit, aimed to advocate for a disturbance-free educational environment, echoing the vision initiated on July 5, 2008, as the Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand Day.
Addressing the media at the DESAM office in Imphal on Tuesday, Somorjit outlined the campaign’s objectives, which commenced on July 5th with various activities such as posters, leaflets, holdings, and stickers.
He informed that the sit-in appeal will take place daily from 12.15 pm to 1 pm at government, government-aided, and private educational institutions across Manipur.
During these sessions, banners displaying six core demands will be prominently featured, with soft copies provided to participants, he said.
Somorjit encouraged attendees to document the events through photos and videos, emphasising the importance of sharing these media with district-level authorities via WhatsApp for wider dissemination and support.
