The Kangleipak Student Association (KSA) on Saturday demanded the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) to take stringent action against those schools violating rules of studying prescribed textbooks.
KSA stated that BOSEM has already issued a notice to study only those textbooks they have prescribed for class I to class X. On the contrary, many schools are prescribing more books and such violations give extra burden to the student community, it stated.
KSA alleged that the motive behind prescribing extra books is not to impart education but to commercialise the education sector.

Many private schools are in nexus with publication houses of other states and schools to earn extra money by making such extra books compulsory, it stated.
Commercializing the education sector only brings hurdles to parents and students both, it added.
Appealing to BOSEM to take immediate action against those schools, it stated that KSA will blame BOSEM if they fail to materialise their demand at the earliest.
