Director of AIMS Atom Sunil Singh on Tuesday wrote to the governor Najma Heptulla, chief minister N Biren Singh and education minister S Rajen pointing out that there are more than fifty thousand native students studying in different parts of the country and abroad. However, after the COVID-19 outbreak, a large number of the students have returned to the state, it said.

It stated that the students are unlikely to return to other states and abort to continue their studies and many students have been compelled to stay in Manipur and have already applied for their admission in different educational institutions in the state due to the surging cases of COVID-19 day by day.

However, there is a significantly less chance of getting enrolled due to limited seats in educational institutions in Manipur which will create a lot of problems for the youths and uncertainty of losing their careers, it said.
