28,400 students to appear Higher Secondary Examination 2022 on April 7

Considering the improving condition of COVID-19 pandemic in the state, COHSEM is all set to conduct physical examination for higher secondary for this year, he added while stating that COHSEM has taken up all necessary steps to carry out the examination in free and fair manner.

The upcoming Higher Secondary Examination, 2022 conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) will see a total of 28,400 students appear in the exam, which will begin from April 7 and continue till May 5.

During a press conference held at the office of COHSEM, chairman L Mahendra Singh said that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has been affecting every sector, including education for the past two years.

The situation had compelled one to switch on to alternative mechanism under the guidance of Union Education Ministry instead of conducting physical examination.

But, considering the improving condition of COVID-19 pandemic in the state, COHSEM is all set to conduct physical examination for higher secondary for this year, he added while stating that COHSEM has taken up all necessary steps to carry out the examination in free and fair manner.

This time, 28,400 students will give the examination, out of which, 8,203 are from arts stream, 19,629 from science and 568 from commerce, he said.

The total number of female candidates are 13,970, while the male candidates are 14,430. In the regular category, the number of students to appear are 27,983; private is 214 and casual cum subject improvement is 201. The number of students who are differently abled is 18.

The examinations will be held in 118 centres. Out of this, 39 centres are located in hill areas and 79 in valley, he added.

Regarding precautionary steps taken up by COHSEM for examinations to be held in a decent manner, he said that all the details norms to be accomplished during the examinations were discussed thoroughly between principals of all 118 examination centres along with supervising officers of COHSEM from March 14 to March 15.

Apart from this, interaction was held with team of flying squad and COHSEM on March 15 to March 16. Even discussion was carried out with civil society organization seeking their support and cooperation so that exam could be held peacefully.

They had also directed to all the centres to ensure COVID-19 protocols so that any untoward incident may not occur, he added.

He said that conducting this examination, is a challenging task, amid this situation where students had undergone so many hiccups because of this pandemic. But their acceptance in holding physical examination is highly appreciable. It shows students of the state is sincere and hardworking.
