144 CrPC imposed in schools ahead of class 10, 12 exams in Manipur

The district magistrates of Bishnupur, Tengnoupal, and Jiribam issued an order stating that immediate preventive measures are required to be taken up to prevent a breach of peace and tranquillity in and around the examination centers of the districts.

District magistrates concerned imposed prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC,1973 in several schools in Manipur in view of the upcoming Class 10 and 12 Examinations, 2023.

The district magistrates of Bishnupur, Tengnoupal, and Jiribam issued an order stating that immediate preventive measures are required to be taken up to prevent a breach of peace and tranquillity in and around the examination centers of the districts.

The orders further prohibited assembly of five or more persons, carrying of sticks, stone, knife, firearms and weapons of any other descriptions or objects which can be used as offensive weapons within 100 metres perimeter of the schools on all exam days.

The curfew has been imposed for the upcoming examinations to be conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur and Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi to be held from February to April.

However, the orders will not be applicable to the candidates, officials, vehicles, machineries involved in the examination.
