COVID-19 claimed two more lives in Manipur on Wednesday, taking the state's death toll to 2,128, while 87 new COVID-19 cases, including one Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, were reported in the state. With these new cases, Manipur's COVID-19 tally climbed to 1,38,809, according to the latest update by the state health department.
The two COVID-19 fatalities were from Imphal East and Imphal West respectively.

On Wednesday, a total of 1,164 COVID-19 tests were conducted in Manipur, of which 87 returned positive for the infection. The day's positivity rate is 7.5 per cent. Manipur has so far conducted 16,29,440 COVID-19 tests.
Among the new COVID-19 cases from the general population reported on Wednesday, 43 were from Imphal West, 13 from Imphal East, eight from Churachandpur, six from Thoubal, three each from Bishunpur, Chandel and Kangpokpi, two each from Kakching, Senapati, and Ukhrul, and one from Noney, according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.
The state also recorded 78 new recoveries, increasing the cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases in the state to 1,36,066 and the recovery rate is 98.2 per cent. Manipur has 615 active cases as of Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a total of 80 D-type oxygen cylinders and 20 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur as of July 26.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 30,80,835 (first dose: 16,10,577 second dose: 12,82,527 and precautionary dose: 1,87,731.
The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 62.17 per cent and for the second dose is 53.85 per cent, it mentioned.
