Sikkim remains state with lowest COVID-19 positive cases in Northeast

Sikkim has, so far, a total of 1704 COVID-19 confirmed cases with the report of 34 more positive cases on Thursday

Sikkim has the least number of COVID-19 confirmed cases among the Northeast states till today. The state has, so far, a total of 1704 COVID-19 confirmed cases with the report of 34 more positive cases till 12.45 pm Thursday, according to sources.

Sikkim reported its first COVID-19 case on May 23. Till then, it was the only state in India to remain COVID-19 free.

East Sikkim has recorded the highest positive cases with 1208 while North Sikkim has the least with one positive case. The state’s recovery number stands at 1269 as 32 more patients have been discharged while the death toll remains four so far.

Assam remains the worst-hit state in the northeast with a total of 1,15,280 confirmed cases, followed by Tripura with 13,309 and Manipur with 6507 as of late Wednesday,  according to official sources.
