Security forces in Tamenglong district of Manipur continued to push awareness drive on Covid-19 and its vaccination to remote villages in the district. As a part of the drive, troops of 44 Assam Rifles on Saturday launched a Covid awareness programme at Aziuram and Namtiram villages in Tousem Sub- Division of the district.
The troops displayed posters, banners in the two villages to educate the villagers on COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour and get the Covid-19 vaccination to help break the chain of the virus transmission among the people.
To strengthen the battle against COVID-19 pandemic and facilitate access to the nationwide ‘Covid Vaccination Drive’, 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector Assam Rifles IGAR (E) have carried out several initiatives along with district health officials to expedite the vaccination for individuals in the district.
“Collective efforts and mobilisation support from local organisations across the nation are required to cover the whole population as early as possible, negating any chances of another round of mayhem by the virus,” the 44 AR Adjutant said.
The 44 Assam Rifles launched the awareness drive to keep people constantly conscious with respect to the COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour, vaccination process and address queries, doubts and concerns among the general public about vaccination related matters, he said.
“While India is still recovering from the devastating second wave, there is already a threat of a third wave hovering over the country. The only one solution to prevent or at least reduce this menace, if we encounter another wave is to get everyone vaccinated and by following Covid safety norms and Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB). Although India has launched its mass vaccination programme for all adults over the age of 18, there is vaccine related hesitancy among population in many parts of the country, owing to misinformation and lack of information among people,” the 44 AR adjutant said.
Another objective of the drive included communicating vaccine safety and timelines, ensuring understanding of importance of vaccination and building public confidence on the safety and efficacy of the vaccine, he added.
