Nagaland's COVID-19 tally surges to 11,787 with 26 new positive cases

The new cases included 11 from Dimapur, five each from Kohima and Makokchung, two each from Mon and Peren, and one from Phek district.

Nagaland's COVID-19 tally surged to 11,787 as 26 more persons tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, official sources said.

The new cases included 11 from Dimapur, five each from Kohima and Makokchung, two each from Mon and Peren, and one from Phek, according to the latest update posted on Twitter by the state Health Minister, S Pangyu Phom.

The state also recorded 23 new recoveries on Wednesday, of which 14 are from Kohima, six from Peren and three from Dimapur, Phom said in a tweet.

While the total number of recovered cases surged to 10,993, the number of active cases stood at 594.

"Update! 26 +ve cases of # COVID-19 have detected today. Dimapur- 11, Kohima- Mokokchung- 5 each, Mon- Peren- 2 each & Phek- 1. Also, 23 +ve patients have recovered. Kohima- 14, Peren- 6, Dimapur- 3. Total +ve cases- 11787 Recovered- 10993 Active Cases- 594," the health minister tweeted on Wednesday evening.

The state's COVID-19 death toll stood at 62, of which seven deaths of COVID-19 patients are not related to COVID, while three deaths are under investigation. A total of 127 patients have migrated to other states, according to the state health department.
