Nagaland: 34 more persons test COVID-19 positive; total cases rise to 535

Among the 535 confirmed cases,  353 are active cases while 182 patients have recovered from the infection.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Nagaland has increased to 535 after 34 new cases were detected on Thursday, state Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said.

Taking to Twitter, the health minister said the 34 new cases are among those 226 samples tested. Of them, 32 cases are reported from Peren, while Kohima and Dimapur reported one case each, he said.

Among the 535 confirmed cases,  353 are active cases while 182 patients have recovered from the infection.

"34 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been detected out of 226 samples tested. Peren QC : 32 Kohima QC : 1 Dimapur QC : 1," the minister tweeted on Thursday morning. 

Peren district, with 146 patients undergoing treatment, has the highest active cases in Nagaland, followed by Kohima with 95 and Dimapur with 44 active cases. While Mon has 38 active cases, Phek has nine, Zunheboto three and Tuensang have three active cases each and Mokokchung has one active COVID-19 case.

Meanwhile, the Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) has directed all Muslims prayer houses in Dimapur and Kohima to remain closed till July 15. The MCD stated that the decision was taken following the lockdown  extension in the state and to combat the COVID-19 pandemic effectively.
