Mizoram: Nine more persons test COVID-19 positive

The new cases were among those 615 samples tested at the Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Wednesday.

Mizoram on Thursday reported nine more COVID-19 cases, three males and six females, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 130, official sources said.

The new cases were among those 615 samples tested at the Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Wednesday, the state DIPR posted on Twitter. The results for 107 samples are awaited, it added.

"Out of a total of 615 sample processed at ZMC lab yesterday (17.6.2020), 9 samples (M-3, F-6) were found COVID19 positive, 499 samples negative and results for 107 samples awaited. Total active cases in Mizoram stands at 129," DIPR Mizoram tweeted on Thursday morning.

Of the 130 total cases reported so far, 129 cases are active.

Mizoram's first COVID-19 patient, who tested positive for the novel coronavirus on March 24, has recovered and has been discharged from hospital.

Meanwhile, eight more persons are expected to be discharged from ZMC on Friday as they tested negative twice for COVID-19. They were detected positive at the Kolasib quarantine facility on the night of June 1, state Health Minister Dr R Lalthangliana said.

Mizoram is yet to register any COVID-19 related death till date.
