Manipur's daily COVID-19 positive tally drops to 699; 12 more die

Imphal West reported four deaths due to COVID-19, the highest among the districts in the state in the last 24 hours..

Manipur on Saturday recorded 699 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,03,588 while the death toll mounted to 1,640 with 12 more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. 

Of the 12 COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Saturday, four deaths were reported from Imphal West, Imphal East reported two deaths, Bishnupur three deaths and Churachandpur, Kakching and Thoubal reported one death each, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room Saturday. 

The release stated that of the 12 deaths, nine persons had co-morbidities and only four of them were vaccinated with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine. 

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 316 and 139 cases respectively. Seventy-nine from Bishnupur, 48 from Churachandpur, 36 from Thoubal, 20 from Ukhrul, 19 from Kakching, 11 each from Tamenglong and Kangpokpi, nine from Senapati, six from Chandel, two each from Kamjong and Tengnoupal and one from Pherzawl.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 908 new recoveries in a span of 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 93,802.

The recovery rate is 90.55 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 8,146 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,517 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  347 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered Covid vaccine reached 13,80,186 (first dose: 11,40,130 and second dose: 2,40,056) as of Saturday.

According to the release, there are 167 vacant general beds and 51 ICU/HDU beds for COVID-19 patients in eight hospitals of Manipur. 

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 13 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower School (Contact No. 9311222947) there are zero ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 30 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 20 vacant general beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 14 vacant general beds and seven ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 10 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 33 vaccnt general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds and in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 47 vacant general beds and 23 ICU/HDU beds, it mentioned.

According to a release issued from DIPR, of the total 3,547 beds available in all the district Covid Care Centres of Manipur, the total number of vacant beds as on Saturday are 2,156.

The vacant beds in Imphal East (Bal Bhawan, NSU, Standard College, AYUSH Hospital) are 183, 636 in Imphal West(LKK, RD Wing, MU Hostels, NIT), 239 in Thoubal, 51 in Bishnupur, 56 in Kakching, 90 in Churachandpur, 25 in Pherzawal, 200 in Senapati, 14 in Tengnoupal, 53 in Jiribam, 30 in Noney, 61 in Kangpokpi, 236 in Tamenglong, 44 in Chandel, 65 in Ukhrul and 172 in Kamjong, it mentioned.
