Manipur's daily COVID-19 positive tally drops to 522; eight more die

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 184 and 1.45 cases respectively

Manipur has been witnessing a downtrend in daily new COVID-19 positive cases for the past few days. On Friday, it recorded 522 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,07,229 while the death toll mounted to 1,691 with eight more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. 

Of the eight COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Friday, one death each were reported from Imphal West, Churachandpur, Kakching and Ukhrul and four fatalities from Bishnupur, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room. It stated that of the eight deaths, seven persons had comorbidities and three of them were vaccinated with the first dose.

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 184 and 145 cases respectively, the release stated.

Seventy cases were reported from Bishnupur, 32 from Churachandpur, 16 from Kakching,  13 from Tamenglong, 24 from Thoubal, 19 from Ukhrul, five from Kangpokpi, four each from Jiribam and Senapati, three from Noney, two from Tengnoupal and one from Chandel.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 678 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 98,867. The recovery rate is 92.20 per cent, the release added. Manipur now has 6,671 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,687 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 388 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 14,31,129 (first dose: 11,63,774 and second dose: 2,67,355).

Vacant beds in nine hospitals

According to the release, there are 138 vacant general beds and 66 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur.

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 13 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower (Contact No. 9311222947) there is one vacant general beds and nine ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 30 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125), there are 18 vacant general beds and one ICU/HDU beds.

In Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 12 vacant general beds and seven ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are four vacant general beds and 10 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 43 vaccnt general beds and 18 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are six vacant general beds and 13 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 11 general beds and two ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
