Manipur's daily COVID-19 positive tally dips below 600

A total of 598 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur in a span of 24 hours.

Manipur on Monday recorded a decrease in the number of single-day COVID-19 cases. The daily COVID-19 tally in Manipur dipped to 598 on Monday from 823 on Sunday, the state health department said.

The state's COVID-19 caseload reached 55,828, while the death toll mounted to 896 with 15 more fatalities in a span of 24 hours.

Of the fatalities recorded on Monday, six deaths were from Imphal East, five from Imphal West, two from Thoubal, and one each from Bishnupur and Churachandpur, according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.

The new COVID-19 positive cases included from 202 from Imphal West, 117 from Imphal East, 83 from Churachandpur, 72 from Thoubal, 54 from Bishnupur, 26 from Kakching, 14 from Jiribam,  seven from Tengnoupal, six from Chandel, five each from Tamenglong and Kamjong, four from Senapati, and one each from Ukhrul, Kangpokpi and Noney, the release stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures l.ike containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The cumulative number of recovered cases increased to 45,948 with 783 recoveries. The number of active cases is 8,984 and the recovery rate is 82.30 per cent, it added.

The state health department also stated that a total of 1,310D-type oxygen cylinders and 4628·type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the number of people who have been administered COVID-19 vaccine in Manipur reached 4,23,072, as per the latest updates from the state health department
