Manipur on Thursday witnessed a surge of 839 daily COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's caseload to 75,180, official sources said.
A total of 4,390 test results were received on Thursday of which 839 were found positive. The cumulative number of test results received so far is 9,38,297, according to the latest updates from the state health department.
Manipur also recorded 12 more fatalities due to COVID-19, including four from Imphal West, three from Churachandpur, two from Bishnupur and one each from Kakching, kangpokpi and Thoubal. The death toll has mounted to 1,241, the state health department said.
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 318 and 155 cases respectively. The other new COVID-19 cases included 89 from Kakching, 65 from Churachandpur, 62 from Thoubal, 55 from Bishnupur, 41 from Kangpokpi, 18 from Chandel, 13 from Pherzawl, seven from Ukhrul, six each from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), Tamenglong and Jiribam, and two from Tengnoupal and one each from Kamjong and Noney, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
The state also recorded 634 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 67,212. With it the number of COVID-19 active cases in Manipur as of Thursday is 6,727 and the recovery rate is 89.40 per cent, the release stated.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,716 D-type oxygen cylinders and 477 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours, it stated.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered COVID-19 vaccine had reached 8,26,702(first dose: 7,35,610 and second dose: 91,092) as of Thursday.
