Manipur's COVID-19 tally rises to 1,25,569 with 20 new cases

Imphal West continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with nine cases on Wednesday.

Manipur on Wednesday recorded 20 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,25,569 while the death toll reached 1,993 with more fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is one per cent.

The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Wednesday is from Imphal West. The deceased had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

As per the release, Imphal West continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with nine cases. Six cases were reported from Imphal East, three from Bishnupur and one each from Churachandpur and Kakching.

The state also recorded 22 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,23,263. The recovery rate is 98.16 per cent. Manipur now has 313 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 609 D-type oxygen cylinders and 186 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 22,47,868 (first dose: 13,05,664 second dose: 9,42,204). The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 66.33 per cent and for the second dose is 47.86 per cent, it mentioned.
