Manipur on Friday reported 48 new COVID-19 cases that pushed the cumulative confirmed cases to 1,26,012, while the death toll remained 2,009 with no reports of death in the last 24 hours, official sources said.
Consequently, the state's daily positivity rate fell to 2.4 per cent on Friday from Thursday's 2.9 per cent, a release from the Health department stated.
Of the new positive cases, six are personnel of the Central Armed Police Force, while 16 are from Imphal West, nine from Churachandpur, six from Imphal East, five from Thoubal, four from Bishnupur, three from Chandel, two from Noney, and one each from Kakching, Kangpokpi and Senapati.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release from stated.
The state also recorded 18 new recoveries, pushing the cumulative number of COVID-19 recoveries to 1,23,657. The recovery rate fell further to 98.13 per cent and the number of active cases surged to 346 from 316 on Thursday, the release stated.
So far, 14,72,588 samples have been tested for COVID-19 across the state. The total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 23,37,615.
As of January 6, a total of 222 D-type oxygen cylinders and 5 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours, the release added.
Meanwhile, Imphal West death toll of 674 remained the highest among all districts in the state, followed by Imphal East with death toll of 481 and Bishnupur 195.
