Manipur's COVID-19 tally crosses 65000-mark; death toll surges to 1,074

The cumulative number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Manipur crossed the 65000-mark on Wednesday, while nine more fatalities pushed the state's death toll to 1,074, according to the latest update from the state health department.
With 629 new COVID-19 positive cases in 24 hours period, Manipur's COVID-19 caseload surged to 65,622, including 9,291 active cases and 55,257 recovered cases. The state's COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 84.20 per cent as on Wednesday, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
Imphal West continued to report the highest number of daily positive cases at 149, followed by Imphal East at 102 and Churachandpur at 94. Sixty-nine new COVID-19 cases were reported from Bishnupur, 57 from Tengnoupal, 54 from Kakching, 50 from Thoubal, 17 from Ukhrul, 16 from Kangpokpi, nine from Chandel, five from Tamenglong, two from Pherzawl, and one each from Jiribam, Kamjong and Noney, the release stated.
The other two new COVID-19 cases are from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), the release stated.
Imphal West and Imphal East reported three deaths each, while Bishnupur, Noney and Churachandpur reported one death each, it stated.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,728 D-type oxygen cylinders and 419 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours, the release stated.
The number of people who have been inoculated in the state reached 5,04,276, it added.
The state health department further advised that anyone with oxygen level (SPO2) below 94 per cent should seek medical advice immediately or shift to COVID Care Centre. One can contact COVID Control Room at 1800-345-3818, and the home isolation helpline 0385-2441230, 0385-244131 for assistance.
