Manipur's COVID-19 tally crosses 52000-mark; death toll climbs to 839

With 729 new positive cases, the COVID-19 tally in Manipur climbed to 52,278 on Wednesday.

Manipur's COVID-19 on Wednesday crossed the 52000-mark while the death toll mounted to 839 with 14 more fatalities, official sources said.

With 729 new positive cases, the COVID-19 tally in Manipur climbed to 52,278, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

As per the release, 311 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported from Imphal West, 108 from Imphal East, 93 from Churachandpur, 79 from Thoubal, 52 from Bishnupur, 26 from Kakching, 20 from Tamenglong, 10 from Senapati, eight from Jiribam, seven from Noney, six from Ukhrul, four each from Chandel and Kangpokpi and one from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Of the COVID-19 fatalities recorded in the state on Wednesday, five deaths were from Imphal West, two each from Imphal East, Churachandpur and Kaching, and one each from Bishnupur, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul, the release stated.

Meanwhile, 489 new recoveries pushed the cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases to 42,404 and the recovery rate stands at 81.11 per cent. With it, Manipur has 9,035 COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday, it stated.

The state health department also informed that a total of 840 D-type oxygen cylinders and 544 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours. A total of 3,93,496 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine in Manipur, it added.
