Manipur on Friday recorded eight new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,25,693 while the death toll mounted to 2,000 with one new fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 0.8 per cent.

COVID-19 claimed one more life in Imphal West, Manipur on Friday, while eight more people tested positive for the infection.

The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Friday is from Imphal West, the deceased had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room.
As per the release, five new COVID-19 cases were reported from Imphal West, another two cases from Bishnupur and one from Churachandpur.
The state also recorded 13 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,23,507. The recovery rate is 98.26 per cent. Manipur now has 186 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.
Meanwhile, a total of 237 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 21 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 22,89,723 (first dose: 13,17,399 second dose: 9,72,324). The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 56.28 per cent and for the second dose is 41.53 per cent, it mentioned.
