Manipur's COVID-19 daily positive tally dips to 592

Imphal West continues to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases at 202.

A day after Manipur witnessed a surge of 780 daily COVID-19 positive cases, the daily positive tally dipped to 592 on Wednesday. With these new COVID-19 positive cases, the state's caseload surged to 69,790, including 6,012 active cases and 62,955 recovered cases, official sources said.

As per the latest update from the state health department, 4,337 COVID-19 test results were received on Wednesday. A cumulative of 9,01,999 people have been tested for COVID-19 in Manipur as of Wednesday.

Imphal West continues to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases at 202, followed by Imphal East at 119, the state health department stated.

Fifty-nine new COVID-19 cases were from Thoubal district, 56 each from Bishnupur and Churachandpur, 39 from Kakching, 17 from Chandel, 12 from Kangpokpi, 10 from Kamjong, five from Senapati, three from Tamenglong, two from tengnoupal, and one from Noney. The other 12 new cases are personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.

With 494 new recoveries, the state's recovery rate stands at 89.73 per cent, the release stated.

COVID-19 also claimed nine more lives in Manipur in a span of 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 1,150. Three deaths each were from Imphal East and Imphal West, two deaths were from Bishnupur and one death from Kakching, it added.

A total of 1,135 D-type oxygen cylinders and 404 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours, the release stated.

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in Manipur is 64,7,632, of which 15,235, including 47 healthcare workers were vaccinated on Tuesday, it added.

The state health department also appealed to all eligible persons to get vaccinated at the earliest as the state government is planning to relax the COVID-19 related restrictions based on the number of vaccinated people.

"Any group or organisation with 150 or more willing individuals may request SMD, NHM or concerned DC for organising a vaccination camp," it stated.
