The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur rose to 6112, including 1,845 active cases and 4,239 recovery cases on Sunday.
In the past 24 hours, 152 more COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the state, a release issued from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated. Of the new cases, 133 persons, including 73 males and 60 females are from the general population and 19 are Central Armed Police Force (CAPF personnel, it stated.
The new positive cases included 49 from Imphal West, 24 from Imphal East, 20 from Thoubal, 18 from Kakching, six from Ukhrul, four from Tengnoupal, two from Bishnupur and one each from Kangpokpi, Chandel and Senapati, the release stated. Thirty-two persons out of the general population are returnees from other states while the rest 101 are locals without any significant travel history, it stated.
Meanwhile, 53 persons were discharged in the past 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 4,239 (General Population - 3,4106 and Central Security Personnel - 829), it stated. With the 53 recoveries in a day, the recovery rate is 69.35 per cent, it added.
Out of the total cases, 1,845 are active (general population - 1,116 and Central Security personnel - 729) while 28 persons have died of the disease.
The new positive cases are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release added.
It further stated that Imphal West district administration has started miking activities on COVID-19 preventive measures and penalties for violating the COVID-19 guidelines in the most affected areas of the district under the sponsorship and guidance of Directorate of Health Services and National Health Mission.
