Manipur's Covid-19 confirmed tally crosses 16000 mark; death toll 121

A total of 284 people, including seven security personnel tested Covid-19 positive on Tuesday.

Four more deaths pushed Covid-19 death toll in Manipur to 121 while the confirmed tally rose to 16,062 as 284 more people tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, the state health department said.

Four males, one aged 58 years from Churachandpur, 79 years from Thoubal, 62 years from Imphal West and 41 years from Imphal East died at Shija Hospital and RIMS, a release from the COVID-19 common Control Room stated.

Of the new cases, 277 persons (157M, 120F) from the general population and seven personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases, the release stated.

The positive cases from general the population are 109 from Imphal West, 58 from Imphal East, 14 from Thoubal, two from Ukhrul, one each from Jiribam, Senapati and Noney, nine from Kangpokpi, 14 from Kakching (l (1), 34 from Tamenglong, 15 from Churachandpur, six from Tengnoupal and 12 from Bishnupur. Four from Imphal West are returnees from other states while the rest are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release added.

Meanwhile, the release stated that the total number of discharged persons is 146. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 12,059 (General Population - 9,705 and Central Security Personnel -2,354). The recovery rate is 75.07 per cent. It stated that the number of active cases is 3,882 (General Population - 3560 and Central Security Personnel -322).

“If you were in contact with a positive person, self-isolate immediately and contact COVID Control Room or a CMO for testing,” Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson, Health Department, Manipur stated in the release.
