Manipur's COVID-19 caseload climbs to 25,390; death toll 291

As many as 147 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Wednesday.

Manipur's COVID-19 caseload mounted to 25,390 as 147 more persons, including six Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, tested positive for the novel coronavirus in a day, the state health department said on Wednesday.

Of the new positive cases from the general population 54 are from Imphal West, 31 from Imphal East, 15 from Bishnupur, 13 each from Thoubal and Tamenglong, four from Kangpokpi, two each from Senapati, Churachandpur, Tengnoupal and Jiribam and one each from Noney, Kakching and Chandel, a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release added. 

On Wednesday, Manipur recorded two more COVID-19 fatalities, one each from Imphal West and Imphal East, pushing the state's death toll to 291.

The state's COVID-19 recovery rate improved to 86.40 per cent with the recovery 219 more patients in a day and the cumulative number of recovered cases is now 21,937 (General Population - 19,136 and Central Security Personnel - 2,801), the state health department said.

Among the 3,162  active cases, 1,007 cases are under home isolation. The cumulative number of patients under home isolation is Manipur reached 7,084, of which  5,785 patients have recovered from COVID-19, it added. 

The state health department further advised those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person to isolate themselves. In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818.
