Manipur's COVID-19 active caseload on Wednesday dropped below the 2000-mark with 227 new recoveries, the state health department said.
The state's total COVID-19 active tally is now 1,937, while the total coronavirus case mounted to 27,373 with 81 new positive cases reported in a span of a day, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Of the new positive cases on Wednesday, 78 persons are from the general population while three are Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, the release stated.
The positive cases from the general population included 20 from Imphal West, 18 from Imphal East, 17 from Kakching, 10 from Tamenglong, four each from Bishnupur and Ukhrul, three from Churachandpur, and one each from Thoubal and Noney. All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
The COVID-19 death toll rose to 329 with two new fatalities on Wednesday. A 50-year-old man from Thoubal district and a 44-year-old man from Kakching district died at Raj Medicity and JNIMS Hospital, respectively, in a span of 24 hours, the state health department said.
Meanwhile, with the new recoveries, the cumulative number of recovered cases in the state surged to 25,107 (General Population - 22,001 and Central Security Personnel - 3,106) and the state's recovery rate stood at 91.72, it added.
The state health department in the release has advised the public to dial 104 – Manipur Mental Health Helpline (9 am to 9 pm), for mental wellbeing. If you were in contact with a positive case, immediately self-isolate and contact COVID-19 Common Control Room or the district Chief Medical Officer for testing, it added.
