Manipur reports 31 new COVID-19 positive cases, one death

Imphal East reported one COVID-19 death on Wednesday, taking the total death toll in the state to 1,978.

Manipur on Wednesday recorded 31 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,25,236 while the death toll mounted to 1,978 with one new fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 1.6 per cent. 

The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Wednesday is from Imphal East. The deceased had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room.

As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 19 and seven cases respectively. Two cases were reported from Bishnupur and one each from Senapati, Thoubal and Ukhrul.

The state also recorded 20 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,22,599.

The recovery rate is 97.89 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 659 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 305 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 85 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 21,59,714 (first dose: 12,82,955 second dose: 8,76,759). The cumulative number of person who havs been vaccinated in the state with first dose is 65.18 per cent and for second dose is 44.54 per cent, it mentioned.
