Manipur on Sunday recorded 167 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,21,046 while the death toll mounted to 1,862 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate rose to 7.4 per cent.
The two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Sunday are from Imphal East. Both of them had co-morbidities and are not vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases 98 and 27 positive cases respectively. Thirteen cases were reported from Bishnupur, 11 from Thoubal, seven from Ukhrul, three from Kakching and two each from Churachandpur, Kamjong, Kangpokpi and Senapati.
All precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
The state also recorded 119 recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,16,922.
The recovery rate is 96.59 per cent, the release added.
Manipur now has 2,262 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.
Meanwhile, a total of 858 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 271 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 17,18,830 (first dose: 12,25,774 second dose: 4,93,056).
According to the release, there are 455 vacant general beds and 114 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in seven hospitals of Manipur.
