Manipur reports 16 new COVID-19 positive cases, two deaths

Imphal West continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with eight cases.

Manipur on Saturday recorded 16 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,25,613 while the death toll rose to 1,995 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is one per cent.

The two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Saturday are from Imphal West. Both the deceased had co-morbidities and were vaccinated with the first dose, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

As per the release, Imphal West continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with eight cases. Six cases were reported from Imphal East and one case each from Churachandpur and Kakching.

The state also recorded nine new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,23,415. The recovery rate is 98.25 per cent. Manipur now has 203 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 252 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 32 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 22,63,050 (first dose: 13,09,736 second dose: 9,53,394). The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 55.95 per cent and for the second dose is 40.72 per cent, it mentioned.
