Manipur reports 16 COVID-19 deaths in 10 days; toll rises to 45

Manipur reported one more death due to COVID-19 on Saturday while the positive tally rose to 7,731.

Manipur's COVID-19 death toll rose to 45 as one more patient succumbed to the illness on Saturday. With it, the state has reported 16 deaths in 10 days' time, while 152 new positive patients, including 29 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), pushed the COVID-19 positive tally in the state to 7,731.

Of the 152 new cases, 123 were from general public, including 60 from Imphal West, two from Kakching, one each from Chandel, Jiribam and Ukhrul, two from Noney, 12 from Thoubal, 33 from Imphal East, nine from Churachandpur and two from Bishnupur. Till Saturday, the highest number of Covid-19 confirmed cases was reported from Imphal West.

A release from the COVID-19 common control room states that out of the 152 new cases, 109 were locals with no travel history and 14 were returnees from other states.

On Saturday, 100 persons were discharged and the cumulative number of recovered cases surged to 6,102. The cumulative number of active cases stands at 1584. The recovery rate is 78.92 per cent, Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson Health Department, Manipur stated in the release.
