Manipur daily COVID-19 positivity rate remains below 10 pc

A total of 270 more people tested positive for COVID-19 and two more patients succumbed to the disease in Manipur on Wednesday

Manipur's daily COVID-19 positivity rate stood at 8,2 per cent as its daily COVID-19 positive cases continued to decline to 270, while its daily COVID-19 death tally remained below five cases at two on Wednesday, as per the latest update by the state health department.

The 270 new COVID-19 positive cases, including four security personnle, pushed the state's COVID-19 confirmed tally to 1,14,203 while the death toll mounted to 1,784 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department.

The two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Wednesday was reported from Imphal West and both the deceased were not vaccinated, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 109 and 33 cases respectively. Fifteen new cases were reported from Bishnupur, 22 from Churachandpur, 12 from Chandel, 25 from Tamenglong, 24 from Ukhrul, eight from Senapati, seven from Kakching, five from Thoubal, four from Kangpokpi, three from Noney, two from Tengnoupal and one from Jiribam.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded new 277 recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,09,031. The recovery rate is 95.47 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 3,388 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,366 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  344 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 15,31,728 (first dose: 11,88,281 and second dose: 3,43,447).

According to the release, there are 381 vacant general beds and 85 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur. 

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 14 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower School (Contact No. 9311222947) there are five vacant general beds and seven ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 28 vacant general beds and four ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 24 vacant general beds and three ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 15 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds.

In Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 46 vacant general beds and 29 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 66 vacant general beds and 18 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 150 vacant general beds and 16 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 33 general beds and two ICU/HDU, it mentioned.

It also informed that the state government has started free RTPCR and Rapid Antigen Testing in Imphal West and Imphal East districts from August 27 to September 2 at designated sites decided by the department and on call basis from 10 am to 5 pm.
