Manipur COVID-19 Updates: Surge in new patients pushes positive cases above 8000 mark; death toll 47

One more patient died of COVID-19 in Manipur on Tuesday

Manipur on Tuesday reported one more death due to COVID-19 and 239 new cases, including 15 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force, pushing the cumulative number of positive cases in the state to 8,210 while the death toll rose to 47, the state health department said.

As many as 148 persons from Imphal West, 43 from Imphal East, five from Thoubal, two from Tengnoupal, three from Ukhrul, four from Kakching, two from Tamenglong, three from Churachandpur and 14 from Bishnupur were confirmed covid-19 positive on Tuesday. They have been shifted to covid care facilities in the state.

While necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are being taken up, 78 patients have been discharged. The cumulative number of recovered persons are 6,418 and the recovery rate is 78.17 per cent according to an official statement.

The number of active cases is 1,745, while the death toll has reach 47, as one more patient, a 69-year-old man from Imphal West died at RIMS Covid care facility on Tuesday.
