Jiribam begins first phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive

In all, 547 healthcare workers have registered for vaccination in the district

As part of the statewide COVID-19 vaccination drive for healthcare workers, Jiribam district started its Covishield vaccination programme on Tuesday.

Chief medical officer of Jiribam district, Dr E Okendro said that the healthcare workers of the district have been given Covishield vaccine by COVID Vaccination Task Force after a resolution was made by the deputy commissioner of the district under the instruction of the state government.

Altogether, 547 healthcare workers have registered for vaccination in the district and there is a target of 100 individuals in the first session of vaccination which will be till February 20. The vaccination of other COVID-19 frontline workers is likely to start from February 10 after consultation with the authority concerned, he added.
