India's daily COVID-19 positive cases mount to 3,17,532, 491 more die

The country's cumulative COVID-19 caseload reached 3,82,18,773, while the death toll mounted to 4,87,693 and the total recoveries touched 3,58,07,029.

India on Thursday reported a new high in daily Covid-19 positive cases totalling 3,17,532, while the disease claimed 491 more lives, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

The country's cumulative COVID-19 caseload reached 3,82,18,773, while the death toll mounted to 4,87,693 and the total recoveries touched 3,58,07,029. The total active caseload climbed to 19,24,051 so far.

Omicron cases across the country surged to 9,287 so far; an increase of 3.63 per cent since Wednesday.

Consequently, the country's active cases stand at 5.03 per cent, while the recovery rate currently is 93.69 per cent. The daily positivity rate is 16.41 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 16.06 per cent.

Meanwhile, 70.93 crore total tests have been conducted so far, and 19,35,180 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, the ministry stated. It also stated that 159.67 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
